Sažetak
This two extremely valuable finds were unearthed at the site Alilovci Lipje, which is located in the central part of the Požega Vally, Croatia. They place the site on the map of important centers of trade and commerce during the beginning of the Middle Bronze Age. The Požega Valley is located on a convenient communication route. The river Orljava, which runs between Požeška gora and Dilj, and flows into the river Sava, the main artery of prehistoric exchange and trade, allowed for the openness of Požega Valley to new impulses. On the other hand, this part of western Slavonia is surrounded by mountains from all sides: Psunj, Papuk, Požeška gora, Dilj i Krndija, which in prehistoric times ensured safe living in the hinterland and a relatively quick exit to the river Sava. Besides an amber bead and a Brotlaibidol extremely large quantities of high-quality and highly ornamented ceramic material was found during the excavations. These material was categorized according to functional forms into pots, bowls, jugs, small amphorae and lids, after which were explored analogies with neighboring areas from closed, reliable whole cemeteries or settlements. Areas of Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were taken into account, where such forms appeared at the start of the Middle Bronze Age. In this way reliable data was collected on the lively flow of ideas and the exchange of goods, but also on the chronological determination of material from the site The site has been relative chronologically dated to the beginning of the Br B1 period. Such dating was confirmed by radiocarbon analyses of bone samples, carried out in the Beta Analytic Radiocarbon Dating Laboratory, Miami, Florida.
