Sažetak
One of the most processed aromatic medicinal plants in Serbian filter tea factories is yarrow (Achillea millefolium L.). During this production, a certain amount of herbal material of particle size lower than 0.315 nm (lower than the size of pores of the filte bag material) is produced. This kind of material, ussualy called , , herbal dust’’, is discharged from the production as a by-product. The amount of herbal dust usually ranged from 10 to 15%. Keeping in mind that the quantity of such material for certain herbal species goes up to few tons per one small and medium-sized filter tea producer per year, there is demand for development of adequate recycling technology which will enable utilization of this by- product. The focal point of this study was to employ supercritical carbon dioxide extraction (SC-CO2), environmentally-friendly extraction technique, for exhaustion of yarrow herbal dust and valorization of obtained extracts regarding bioactive compounds. During investigation, influences of extraction parameters, pressure and temperature, on extraction yield were analysed. Also chemical profile of obtained extracts was acquired by GC/FID. The obtained results confirmed that SC-CO2 can be technique of choice particularly for isolation of camphor, eucalyptol and tocopherols from yarrow herbal dust.
