Sažetak
Archaeological research by the Conservation Department of Split at the site of St John's Church (Remetin vrt) in Stari Grad on the island of Hvar have revealed the beginnings of the foundation of the Greek colony of Pharos, uniquely preserved layers of first nucleus of the dwellings of Greek colonist and of the earlier Illyrian settlement were discovered. Excavations have also revealed considerable quantities of sherds of fine Greek vessels and many bronze coins of Pharos mint in archaeological strata. The discovery of these earliest material remains will contribute to a better understanding of the Pharos mint at the time of foundation of the colony.
