Sažetak
Psoriasis is a chronical autoimmune systematic disease, which besides skin, affects joints and numerous other organ systems by developing comorbid metabolic diseases. In Croatia, as in the whole world, psoriasis is the most common chronical skin disease, and is still incurable. Although not being life-threatening, psoriasis significantly affects psychological status of the patient. Among other reasons, the long-lasting treatment, bad effect on appearance and stigma associated with dermatological patients negatively impact quality of life and psychological, physical and social functioning. The goal of this research is to examine whether there exists a difference in quality of life between psoriatic patients, psoriatic patients with comorbid physical diseases, non-chronical dermatological patients and persons without diagnosed physical diseases. The data is collected in the Clinical Hospital Centre Split, Clinics for dermatovenerology. 204 participants were included, 52 of them were psoriatic patients, 30 were psoriatic patients with comorbid physical diseases and 60 were non- chronical dermatological patients, while other 62 participants had no diagnosed physical diseases. The questionnaire included sociodemographic data, such as age, sex, marital status, level of education, duration of treatment and comorbid diseases. Additionally, the participants have filled out The World Health Organization Quality of Life (WHOQOL)-BREF. Significant difference between above mentioned participant groups, in terms of overall quality of life, overall health satisfaction, psychological, physical, social and environmental domain, was found. Psoriasis alone, or in comorbidity with other diseases, not only affects physical health, but also diminishes quality of life. Therefore, during the psoriasis treatment, in addition to a usual symptoms relief, significant concern should be given to the psychological support.
