Sažetak
Lewis Carroll’s Alice appeared several times on the repertoire of Croatian children’s theatres. There have been six different puppet or live productions, as well as a dance performance and an ice show. The book has been dramatized seven times, but one adaptation was never performed. Five manuscripts are available, of which four include complete texts, and one consist of scarce text fragments and sketches. The complete dramatizations were made by Božo Kukolja (1976), Želimir Prijić (1979), Davor Žagar (1997) and Saša Anočić (2004). These four complete dramatizations are analysed to establish the strategies used by their authors in the process of transferring the elements of the literary world, cultural items, and linguistic aspects of the original into the Croatian context. It is established which literary translation served as the direct source of specific dramatizations, and in what way the basic elements of the original storyworld are modified regarding the translation in question and the original itself. The manuscripts are compared according to the elements of plot (e.g. the tea party scene), intertextual elements (e.g. parodies), and cultural items (e.g. food). The multimodal nature of the dramatic adaptation is also considered.
