Sažetak
The presentation shows how scientific approach reveals factors that influence the eventual decision of partial or major on-shore pipeline recoating. In particular the subject of ageing pipelines having field applied PE tape coatings is addressed. The typical appearance of microbially induced corrosion combined with the effect of electrical shielding will be presented. The original field and laboratory results will be shown, that are used in a novel way to assess the environmental corrosivity and the related metal damage as well as the soil characteristics and the related coating damage. A novel methodology that proposes integration of the field and laboratory data to make an informed decision on pipeline recoating project will be exemplified.
