Sažetak
Ozone measurements in the Adriatic region are scarce althrough the region is affected by primary pollutants and by intense solar radiation. Ozone was monitored continuously during the summer months at several sites on the Adriatic east coast and during the 1997. in the rural site Omišalj on the island of Krk. However, meteorological data are avaiable for a few sites only and the present report represents an analysis of avaiable ozone volume fraction data in relation to meteorological parameters in the period 1976/77. and 1991. The data analysed here were collected at three sites. Besides Omišalj, these include the Mediterranean town and tourist resort of Rovinj on the Istrian peninsula, and the island of Iž in the central Adriatic which can be considered as isolated from larger pollution sources. The hourly average ozone volume fractions and wind directions were analysed by classical statistical methods. particular emphasis was placed on the problem of high ozone fractions due to transportof air masses, the problem of land to sea transport of pollutants and to the investigation of computer model predicted north to south gradient of ozone production in this region.
