Sažetak
Zagreb's Down-Town conceived in 1865 owe its design to many 18th and 19th century central European planning solution. Zagreb's centrally located horseshoe-shaped square parks are the major element of the scheme. It is surrounded with splendid residential and cultural buildings. But the major public cultural buildings do not face or frame the park, they are located within it. Uniquelly, the Zagreb buildings are often placed at the ends of sections of the green squares, where they perform a double function: they are both pavilions in green squares and frames for adjacent squares.
