Sažetak
Agricultural biomass is one of the most abundant renewable energy resources on Earth, and can be a partial alternate to fossil fuels. Large amount of agricultural residues are available to be explored and utilized efficiently. Two fundamental aspects related to agricultural biomass use as biofuel are: (1) to extend and improve the basic knowledge on chemical composition and properties ; and (2) to apply this knowledge for the most advanced and sustainable utilisation of biomass. Common methods applied to make use of biomass energy potential are biochemical and thermochemical conversion methods. The biofuel products properties greatly depend on the agricultural biomass type regarding to their chemical composition. Therefore, the characterization and acquiring clear knowledge of agricultural biomass group chemical composition in the biofuel products processes is critical to understanding the reaction mechanisms of the these processes, and it is important for the beneficial use of biofuel end products. Based on the above mentioned, the main objective of the present study was to research the group chemical composition of some important oilseeds and grains as a arable crop residues in the Republic of Croatia, and to provide the most detailed database of agricultural biomass group chemical composition for biofuel end products quantification and its properties.
