Sažetak
The topic of European rural history in pre-modern times has once again been placed at the center of interest of European historiography. This research is not necessarily confined to social and economic history, it can also be significantly improved by an interdisciplinary research approach, which implies researching defined spatial units (such as regions)and placing the data in the comparative perspective (especially in the context of newer regional history). The research is primarily confined to north-western Croatia. Historical data, which is used in the research, was obtained through transcribing a significant amount of serial historical sources, mostly church tithe records, manorial urbaria (lists of serfs, obligations of the serfs, etc.), tax records, and other documents. This data was transcribed and structured in a geo-referenced database of more than 30 thousand individual 'lines of data'. Obviously, such data can significantly improve our knowledge on 16th-century agricultural production (especially in the context of the critique of the process of second serfdom and agrarian dualism). Probably the most important branch of agricultural production in north-western Croatia was wine production, and the author's main goal is to put that data in a comparative Central European perspective
