Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to determine differences in attitude toward sailing between male and female students. For this purpose the scale for the assessment of attitude toward sailing was constructed consisting of 30 positive and negative claims. These claims were evaluated by students using fivepoint Lickert type scale (ranging from I do not agree at all to I absolutely agree). The sample consists of 80 female and 317 male students, altogether 397 students from the Faculty of Kinesiology and Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb. Discriminative analysis shows that differences do exist and that female students in general have more positive attitudes toward sailing. The negative pole of the discriminative function is defined by three variables, two of them expressing fear toward this sport. Since those variables are negative on the male side of the function we can conclude that female students sense more fear toward sailing, and also greater respect.
