Sažetak
Problem: A problem with Croatian corporate leaders, government policy makers, and academic authorities, who represent the society, concerns the lack of innovative and implementable strategy to develop and transform technology and knowledge resources into the system that creates sustainable economic and social performances. Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to develop a comprehensive social networking system that aligns corporate, governmental, and academic aspects with society demands in Croatia. It also promotes new thinking on how institutional change, a new partnership among corporations, government, and universities, can impact and reinforce business and social benefits. Design/methodology/approach: A review of the applied literature on practices, using examples of Triple Helix approach, shows that innovative strategy can increase organizational competitiveness while responding to the divergent demands of their stakeholders. In addition, the descriptive case studies will be performed because they offer an overall picture of corporate, governmental, and academic practices in Croatia. Findings: A social networking system should control the environmental, economic and social aspects of all stakeholders, especially with the strategic aspects of knowledge, innovation, and consensus. Its dimensions are emphasized in order to overcome transition barriers and to meet the needs of corporate, government, and academic challenges in Croatia. Practical implications: This paper describes how a social networking system (i.e. a new partnership among corporations, government, and universities) utilizes corporate, governmental, and academic expertize, as well as increases economic and social performances in Croatia. Originality/value – The new system cannot produce negative outcomes. However, the new system is not without its skeptics. The advantage of the partnership of corporations, government, and universities ensures sustainable economic advantage and should be a long-term objective of the Croatian society.
