Sažetak
Sports events are a great opportunity when promoting cities and developing urban tourism. Large sports events have a positive influence on the development of general and touristic infrastracture. Athletics is nowadays a mass sport, which experiences significant growth. Various cities have been organizing its own races. Races have turned into a significant sports and touristic events. There is a demand for affinity tour packages. Athletes, as users of affinity tour packages, travel for the occasion of marathons organized worldwide. The exact target group is interesting to outgoig travel agencies. Hotel complexes have been used for preparations of professional athletes. Sports camps have been developed in resorts which mainly do business out of high tourist season. These are the projects focused to developing year round tourism, hiring young and professional staff and encourage further investments in tourism. Sports events are desirable from the financial aspect too, as all destination facilities are subject to additional fees charged.
