Sažetak
The excerpt from the doctoral dissertation is dedicated to the literary- and historically- critical analysis of the Assyrian speech in 2 Kgs 19, 23c-24 ‖ Isa 37, 24c-25. Contrary to the common metaphorical interpretations, which presume that the speech is a fictive quotation and advances blasphemous claims, the study demonstrates that the speech is a genuine quotation and involves common faults of Assyrian historical propaganda. It is shown that the speech matches Assyrian annalistic texts, enumerates historical successes of the Neo- Assyrian Empire, and functions as a piece of imperial propaganda for the subdued nation of Judah.
