Sažetak
The modern disenchantment of the world was inaugurated by the rejection of the religious symbols, rites and feast as the life forms of religious reality. The modernity, born as “anti- feast” (A. Arino), exposed the religious festivities to the radical criticism. Since the age of the French Revolution, the significance and the public role of the religious feast was gradually relegated by modern secular worldview. The feasts were reduced to the pure secular reason. The decline of traditional religious festivities has not been completely displaced because the feasts themselves have evolved a response to changing cultural condition. Moreover, the increasing crisis of the religious feasts has caused a growth of contrary turn: the rediscovery of the feast as a condition of authenticity, comunity and sacred. That discourse takes shape in the contemporary philosophy as a critique of anti- festive modernity and the re- thought of the feast as an authentic reality. This paper provides an insight on the philosophical approaches on the reality of the feast engaging the hermeneutical categories of art and play. The play and art reveals an original relation to understanding the feast in an existential manner. Discussing with some philosophers (Hans Georg Gadamer, Martin Heidegger and Giorgio Agamben), who proposed the reflection on feast proceeding through the analysis of play and art, the paper attempt to respond on the quest about how the “radical reality” emerges from the feast condition. It shows that the significance of the feast comes into focus as a matter for thinking the fundamental reality of religion, history and time as well as the humanity of man. The philosophical re-discovery of the feast seems to challenge the way for overcoming the crisis of humanism and re- invigorating the religion to find its own sources within the feast reality.
