Sažetak
Among the main objectives of training in sports, one of the most important is developing and maintaining at a desired level those functional abilities of an athlete which may be defined as his aerobic and anaerobic capacities. The aerobic capacity of a top athlete may be developed by a variety of exercises under one condition: that both the intensity and the extensity of the exercise are defined in detail, and that as many muscle groups are activated. As for the training system of an athlete's anaerobic capacity, one must bear in mind its instability and the mutually competitive relations between the phosphogenic and glycolytic energetic reactionss, a fact that requires a highly differentiating approach when choosing and dosing the training exercises. In the methodology of training the athletes' functional abilities, it is necessary to define to a precision the intensity and duration of strain, the type of training activity, the suitable modes and methods, the duration of the resting intervals, the number of strain repetitions, and the exact procedure during intermissions.
