Sažetak
Concept of family resilience gains more and more interest of researches in the last decade. However, there are still challenges in the family resilience operationalization as the focus shifts from the resilience of individual members to the resilience of the family system. In the year 2015, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences University of Zagreb, Croatia, carried out the project “Research of Family Resilience”. The aims of the project were to determine ways of family resilience assessment and explore contribution of the family resilience to developmental outcomes of young people. In this paper, differences of family resilience from the perspective of youth and their parents will be presented and discuss. Participants were 1st grade students (N=304) from two high schools as well as their parents (N=221). Family Resilience Assessment Scale was used (Sixbey, 2005) in assessment. The results showed that there are differences in perception of family resilience. The differences are significant in the dimension of Utilizing Social and Economic Resources and Maintaining the Positive Outlook. Youth perceived that their families have access to more social and economic support and that their families, as a system, maintain positive outlook in the adversity more than their parents do. There are no differences in dimensions Family Communication and Problem Solving, Family Connectedness, Family Spirituality and Ability to Make Meaning of Adversity. Based on the theoretical concepts and results of this research, different ways of family resilience operationalization will be discussed.
