Sažetak
The paper presents a reliable model for on-line prediction of the tool's flank wear feasible for practical implementation on a CNC lathe. Prediction of the progress of flank wear land has been achieved by using the cutting force-sensor signals. A flank wear-time model has been established from an estimation of adhesive wear volume. The efficiency and reliability of the developed model have been verified on reported turning tests performed under various cutting conditions but for the same workpiece material. Predictions from the model have been well correlated with the actual flank wear measurements.
