Sažetak
Scientific organizations in Croatia possess good scientific and research potential and represent a solid basis for the development of a competitive economy based on innovation. Croatian medium and large enterprises invest more than 90% of all private investment in research and development, of which large companies investing the largest share (over 60%), as opposed to micro and small enterprises (just under 8%). Due to the lack of public support for scientific and research activities and relatively low interest of companies, investments in the development of research and innovation in recent years has stagnated. Research and development activities, among other activities associated with the introduction of innovation in enterprises, are essential to the Croatian economy in order to become more competitive through companies productivity growth, access to new markets with higher value added, and finally bringing to sustainable employment in the context of a sharp global competition. The mission of the Faculty of Metallurgy is to become recognized as the place of permanent enhancement and improvement of study conditions and acquiring knowledge as well as competences in the field of metallurgy, metallic materials and environment protection. The Faculty cooperates with institutions at an international level by enhancing its mission through the transfer of know-how, as well as student and faculty mobility. It encourages innovation, uniqueness and excellence of each individual according to global evaluation standards and act. Thereby, an imperative of Student poster sessions establishmentin the frame of International Foundrymen Conference has been imposed, which should in the future be expand with the participation of the cooperating institutions students.
