Sažetak
The author comes from the premises that development of tourism in the Mediterranean countries brings not only benefits but imposes lot's of threats in social, economic and environmental area of life. The main reason for many of the threats lies in the fact that mass tourism model applied so far hasn't took into account carrying capacities of the fragile coastal areas of the Mediterranean countries. In order to explain the problems caused by saturation the author has introduced into analysis the low of diminishing returns. She has also offered a set of measures for the purpose of preventing and /or overcoming possible threats posed by tourism.
