Sažetak
Although tourism attractions are a basic resource for long term tourism developments, they are not given the proper attention, both, theoretically and practically. The aim of this paper is to present a new system of tourism attractions based on complex relationships between tourism resources and tourist motives and activities, potential and real tourism attractions, tourist experiences and tourism products. The new system, tested through the series of case studies, is proposed. It is a tridimensional model with classification and typology of tourism attractions, together with evaluation of their marketing and development potential. The System is based on the convergent properties of tourism that is, the process of conversion of tourism resources (possessing a seed of attractiveness) into (destination) tourism product. It is argued that one cannot understand the importance of tourism attractions for the development of tourism without full knowledge of the integrated process of converting a tourist resource into a market ready tourist product.
