Sažetak
After initial attempts at finding in the sources elements of negative types of naturalization (acculturation, assimilation, adaptation, alienation, and so on) I finally came to the conclusion that displaced Croatian nobility at the time of the Ottoman threat primarily functioned on the ground of their social position, in which multiple identities were one of their characteristics. Because of that, they easily accepted new personal identities (by marriage, by acquiring systems of values of the new environment at the remnants of the Kingdom), but at the same time they kept their old heritage and implemented it in the new homeland. It was evidently the process called integration by sociologists: that is, the process leading to cultural pluralism and the appearance of new trans- cultural elements.
