Sažetak
Transport of dangerous goods is only a segment of the whole transportation system of the state. What is special about the transport of dangerous goods is that it requires multidiscipline in order to deal with this issue. When considering the transportation of dangerous goods, many questions arise. Questions such as: awareness and knowledge of characteristics and properties of dangerous goods, ways of packing and labelling dangerous goods, ways of transportation, equipping vehicles for transport of dangerous goods, procedures after accidents, neutralising and removing the effects of accidents, and education and training of persons connected with preparation and transport of dangerous goods. All of the above mentioned, points to the need for social institucionalisation in organising transport of dangerous goods. It is also a requirement for harmonisation of the Croatian laws with that of the European Union, in order for the Republic of Croatia to join the Western Europe. This paper presents the analysis of the recent and up-to date conditions in organising transport of dangerous goods in the Republic of Croatia and in Europe. A model proposal is also given for connecting and inter-connecting organisations and institutions which would systematically deal with issues of transport of dangerous goods.
