Sažetak
The historical experience of developed country shows the great interdependence between improvement of technology and development. Croatian experience in the past, as former socialistic country, shows the absence of the proper tecnological progress in inadequate economic and social conditions, even in the periods of great indebtedness and investments. Inheritance of the past and present situation express the strong necessity of accelerated technological development as the key factor of the social progress as a whole. The possible directions of the desirable technological changes include the advancing of the institutions of market society, inflow of the foreign technology (capital), Croatian direct investments abroad and domestic investments in science and knowledge.
