Sažetak
Wheat and maize are the most important cereals in Croatia (79 % of the total area under grains) and market changes can play important role for other agricultural sectors (e.g. livestock). The main objective of paper is to present projection results of development of the production and trade of these crops in Croatia between 2012 and 2025 under the CAP 2014–2020 direct payments framework. The multi-product econometric based model is linked to the global crop market through EU price. An important assumption was also dependence of these sectors on other agricultural sectors (livestock) and macroeconomic development in Croatia. The model results show that the production of wheat and maize will continue to increase in the coming years, mainly due to the growing global demand for cereals and to the technological progress. Further, the expected changes in the CAP will cause a small decrease in harvested area of these crops.
