Sažetak
Development of e-Government and information society in general, lays new requirements for archivists and state archives in Croatia. Instead of traditional perception of role of archives as „guardian of the memory“, contemporary archives and archival profession in general, have to design a new services, which with their content, format and technology, can respond to information society. As well, the society expects that contemporary archival service, as part of public administration, with their work contribute to transparency of public administration, and democratization of society. In strategic documents of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, concerning development of information society and e-Government in Croatia in last decade (2002-2012), one of aims is to create a high-quality digital cultural contents, based on records from libraries, museums, galleries and archives. Of the other part, development of information society and e-Government, implies continuous enlargement of different electronic records in public administration and other institutions, upon which archival service must provide equally custody and protection, as for records of the same institutions on paper. According to that, new requirements of the archival profession can be observed in two basic directions. The first one is related to long-term digitalization of records in archives, professional handling and providing terms for its access to final users. The second one is related to systematic custody and protection of electronic records in differnet institutions under the autority of the state archives, and providing legal, technological and other preconditions for future transfer of electronic records in state archives. In that framework, in this presentation as first are emphasised concrete results which in this matters archival service in Croatia has accomplished till now. Special focus in on presentation of National archive information system ARHiNET. Presentation also gives an overview of tasks and requirements which state archives and archival profession in Croatia have to achieve until 2015 concerning succesfull electronic records management, in the framework of Strategic plan of the Ministry of culture 2012-2014, and Strategic plan of the Croatian State Archives 2012-2015.
