Sažetak
In 2010, the Croatian Terrestrial Reference System 1996 was introduced in the Republic of Croatia as a unique coordinate system of Transverse Mercator projection (HTRS96/TM). Former two systems (zones) were replaced by one system with the central meridian 16° 30'. Due to the properties of transverse conformal cylindrical projection, the problems of linear distortion are revealed at the peripheral parts of the projection. Moving away from the central meridian results in linear distortion exceeding the allowed value (1 dm/1 km). This paper explains the problems of reduction and correction of measured distances from the physical surface of the Earth to the projection plane HTRS96/TM. The illustrated algorithm for calculating reductions and corrections has been used in developing the computer programme ReducDist. The code for the mentioned computer programme has been written in the programme language C# using the development environment .NET framework and the software for the development of Windows applications Visual Studio.
