Sažetak
The relationship between the measurement of performance and the achievement of performance outcomes is often a complex, multi-faceted and context specific phenomena. And it is due in part to these factors that a positive relationship between measurement and outcome, the measurement-performance link, has yet to be definitively proven in the literature. This paper proposes the use of an Emergent Critical Realist perspective in the investigation of the measurement- performance link and suggests that Critical Realism (CR) is far better able to explain the complexity of performance than existing theories being employed. Emergent CR offers a holistic view of measurement and is able to uncover a deep understanding of the underlying factors, the structures and mechanisms, which may influence the relationship between performance measurement and outcome.
