Sažetak
Modelling traffic processes in telecommunications networks can be radically improved using generalised systems approach and contributions from traffic sciences and generic traffic theory. Paper consideres some of necessary theoretical background and methodological approach by which the traffic phenomenon can be systematically identified and formaly (mathematically) described. Classical teletraffic models and advanced (Non-Markovian) models for ATM networks are considered using terms from generic traffic theory (traffic entities, adapting subsystem, traffic management, etc.).
