Sažetak
Equality data are the data collected with regard to age, ethnic or racial origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion or belief and multiple grounds. Relevant provisions on equality data collection are included in the Croatian legislation dealing with statistics, census or administrative registers, as well as legislative sources that ensure equality and non-discrimination. The equality data in Croatia are collected primarily by the Central Bureau of Statistics and by the Ombudsperson of the Republic of Croatia, acting as the central equality body, in cooperation with the Ombudsman for children, Ombudswoman for gender equality and Ombudsman for persons with disabilities. However, the current equality data collection practice in Croatia, subscribed mainly to the work of the Bureau of Statistics through a one-off census and the Ombudsperson of the Republic of Croatia's collection of discrimination cases does not suffice for the authorities to monitor discrimination effectively in various fields (education, employment, health and housing). Thus, an efficient personal data processing and optimizing require substantive reforms of the Croatian legislative and institutional system. Since availability of appropriate equality data is a precondition for planning appropriate anti-discrimination measures and policies as well as for reduction of discrimination risks among different societal groups, a more determined equality data regulation should be put in place in Croatia. To achieve this, a system in which broader institutional framework monitors, on a regular basis, the performance of each vulnerable group within its field of competence is required.
