Sažetak
To be, means to communicate, and to communicate, means to be. The book deals mostly with social aspects and effects of the media communication. Products of the information industry shape our perception and understanding of the world, our moods, attitudes, and behaviour. They do this in the way that promotes the interests of those who speak, not the understanding, justice, and good will among people. We address the issue of surveillance and data gathering, which depersonalize people and reduce all of us to rats in a maze, with which power-holders play their games. The book does not offer an effective cure for the ills of the present world, but it points at its faults and suggests how some things can and should be made better.
