Sažetak
At a certain scale, both developed and developing countries suffer from the financial exclusion problem, yet driven by the different circumstances and thus endeavoring or recommended to be solved with different Policies. The accurate measure of the financial exclusion (inclusion) and finding out its causes are the first steps towards setting up the policies, which should lower the level of financial exclusion. The aim of this paper is to add to the empirical with a construction of the financial inclusion index (FII). By acknowledging the Word Bank’s financial inclusion measure – the Global Findex, its extension is proposed with a set of questions expected to encompass specificities of the emerging, high-income economies likewise Croatia, where inclusion in the financial system could be overestimated if the possession of a bank account is in the focus as a proxy of financial inclusion. The empirical verification of the new index and financial exclusion determinants was obtained throughout a questionnaire. In addition, this research might be replicated for economies of comparable features to the Croatian economy e.g. other Southeastern European countries.
