Sažetak
Physical activity is extremely important for health, and strenght training is one of the components of physical activity. AIM To establish in which way does the strenght training influence changes in body type and resting energy expenditure. METHODS This research was conducted on 16 examinees, 8 males and 8 females. Strenght training lasted for 7 weeks, 21 training in total. Bioimpedance method (BIA) with GAIA 359 was used to analyse body type, before and after the period of 7 weeks training. Waist to hip ratio (WHR) and basal metabolism (BMI) were compared. Kolmogore-Smirnovljev test was used to confirm normal distribution. Differences between inital and final values were tested using a paired t- test. Pearsons coefficient of corelation was used to show the corelaton between the inital and final values. RESULTS In most examinees basal metabolism increased, statistical significance only in male population. Waist to hip ratio was statisticaly significantly reduced in all of the examinees, regardless of gender. Body mass increased in all of the examinees, statistical significance in male population. CONCLUSION Changes in body type and enery expenditure show that strenght training should be one of the important components of physical activity toward the health improvement.
