Sažetak
Croatia, which more than 650.000 refugees and other forced migrants have entered between mid- September 2015 and mid-April 2016, is facing nowadays numerous challenges connected with reception and assistance to those who stayed and/or will be transferred to Croatia by relocation and resettlement quotas. But, apart of having an impact on the state-level institutions and other (non)governmental actors, these events have left mark on the public perceptions of people coming to and passing through Croatia. In this paper we present the results of three studies conducted in Croatia aimed at exploring specific attitudes towards forced migrants – asylum seekers and/or refugees. Two of them were conducted before culmination of refugee crisis (in 2011 and 2013) and one was timely positioned during the refugee “wave” at the end of 2015. This paper aims to contribute to the explanation of the attitudes expressed towards asylum seekers and refugees by selected groups of Croatian citizens.
