Sažetak
In all its forms and occurrences in today’s age of globalisation, tourism is a “human international industry” in which, more than in any other economic branch, one individual – the tourism professional – comes into direct contact with another individual – the guest. The former should undertake all that is necessary to satisfy the needs of the latter and make him/her want to repeat the service again. In this interaction, the personality and quality of the entire staff serving a guest is very important, including those employees who may not be in the foreground of activities, that is, in direct contact with the guest, but who are responsible for providing a tourism facility with everything it needs to ensure the guest is properly served. At the same time, the professional skills and knowledge of the staff, their appearance and behaviour are crucial to the quality of tourism services rendered. To be able to meet their job requirements, employees in tourism should make use of continuous learning, which the modern forms of the educational system provide, and self-learning, while the state and other relevant entities should help in establishing the appropriate educational institutions. In this way, an international globalised economy is created, which fosters the development of a tourism industry that is international, economic, and, above all, efficient.
