Sažetak
Virtual communications is widely used communication in almost all professions. Fast growing of virtual environment has set up new criteria and it changed traditional role in social services and in daily practice of helping professions. This poster presentation will focus on two actual issues: (1) ethics of technology use in direct practice with service users and (2) ethics of online research with vulnerable participants. In social work there is increase usage of computer technology in direct professional practice of social workers and service users. The advantages of online communication of experts and users are increased availability of professional assistance. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the specifics of ethics in communication and work with clients in a virtual environment and through modern technology, and to set up standards that can help social workers in their online professional activities. Increase use of online researches also shows need for redefining ethics in social work and other helping professionals. Still, there is no adequate ethical guidelines when conducting online research, especially with potentially vulnerable participants. Ethical dilemmas in adequate tracking psychosocial condition of participants are especially important when researching the topics which can provoke traumatic experiences and/or other challenging situations. In further this poster will point out the existing Croatian and International regulation(s) of using technology in helping professions like social work and others and its valid guidelines.
