Sažetak
Female students are a minority in most technical universities in the EU, and some efforts have been made in an attempt to increase the participation of women in engineering. The growing need for IT professionals is one of the main reasons of social interest in attracting more girls to this field. This article provides a comparison of gender-related differences, as well as approaches for improving male-to-female ratio and resolving gender-related problems in engineering education. The article also presents some results of the project "Strengthening women’s position in the labor market", funded by the EU and implemented by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek. The main objective of the project is to increase the employability of women in the Osijek-Baranja County by motivating more female students to enroll in some of the technical studies.
