Sažetak
The authors of this paper point to three main reasons (motives) to pursue the phenomenon of giftedness, these motifs being determined, inter alia, by the importance of psychological nd pedagogical consideration of disorder, to which a fourth motive, the one referring to the nature of understanding the development of giftedness for understanding human development in general can be added. In order to respond appropriately to what has been pointed out, after beginning the process of identifying the gifted, certain educational interventions are taken, which can be summarised in three groups: (1) enrichment of the learning programme /curriculum/, (2) streaming by academic ability, and (3) school acceleration.
