Sažetak
In this paper the basic principles of potentiometric determination of surfactants were described. The most important characteristics of surfactant sensors and the methods of their determination were presented. The mechanism of sensor response to ionic surfactants was explained. The principle of dynamic response measurements and its importance for potentiometric titration of surfactants was described too. The sensor selectivity is among its most important features and the method of measurement of the influence of different organic and inorganic ions to the sensor response was described. The investigation of the influence of pH value and ethoxylated nonionic surfactants (EONS) to the sensor response is of great importance. The application of surfactant sensors was demonstrated at determination of anionic surfactants in a few commercial detergents. Finally, the newer investigation in the development of surfactant sensors were presented, as well as the introduction of new materials for sensor membrane construction, especially nanomaterials and functionalized nanomaterials.
