Sažetak
SSB proteins bind transiently formed ssDNA generated during various processes of DNA metabolism. Thus, SSBs protect ssDNA from chemical and nuclease attacks and from forming unproductive hairpin structures. Due to its importance in maintenance of genomic integrity, SSB is one of the essential gene products required for life. The aims of this study were to examine the extent of phosphorylation of SSB during cell growth and to confirm predicted site of phosphorylation in E.coli SSB protein using mass spectrometry.
