Sažetak
Surfactants are large group of chemicals which find their application in households, pharmaceutical industry, medicine, agriculture etc. The main use of surfactants are in detergents and different cleaning products. Cationic surfactants (CSs), due to their specific characteristics, find application in fabric softeners, hair conditioners and disinfectants. They are biologically active compounds and can be very toxic to some aquatic organisms. Standard method for determination of CSs is two-phase titration. Because of many shortcomings of this method, it is necessary to find out a method which is simple, fast, inexpensive and does not use toxic chemicals. A new ionophore based on functionalized carbon nanotubes was prepared and characterized. The functionalized carbon nanotunbes were modified with sulfonic acid with the aim of binding cetylpyridinium cation (CPC). The efficiency of functionalization was checked by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The new sensing material was tested as a sensor for ionic surfactants detection.
