Sažetak
The study enrolled 97 T2DM patients aged 58 (41-79) years, diabetes duration 12 (1-39) years ; glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) 8.2±1.2% and body mass index (BMI) 37.7±5.74 kg/m2. Data on 39 patients on liraglutide, 36 on exenatide and 22 on OHA were analyzed after 18 months of treatment. GLP-1 RAs were associated with significant total (5.52±1.57 and 4.85±1.45 vs. 5.07±1.25 vs. 4.64±1.16 mmol/L, p<0.001) and LDL-cholesterol (2.84±1.03 and 2.73±1.29 vs. 2.53±0.91 and 2.42±0.82 mmol/L, p<0.001) reduction compared with OHA. After stratifying GLP-1 RA treated patients, only exenatide resulted in modest but significant HDL-cholesterol improvement (0.91±0.22 vs. 1.31±0.29 mmol/L, p=0.040). Further evidence is needed to determine the underlying pathophysiological mechanism of GLP- 1RA in lipid profile improvement.
