Sažetak
Sound corporate governance is one of the requirements for the efficient banking business. Regulatory bodies have recognized that the establishment of corporate governance framework can contribute to the limitation of excessive and imprudent executives’ risk taking. This paper explores corporate governance framework in banking business with a special focus on executive remuneration. Research results indicate that existing executive remuneration practices among Croatian banks are not aligned with best practices and do not support high level of transparency in protecting shareholders’ interests.
