Sažetak
Tourism is one of the most propulsive global sectors with many positive effects ; in this context, tourism should be seen as a big and complex system, and not as a simple process of exchanging goods and services between providers and tourists. This however, can very often lead to a conflict between economic and social prospects of tourism development (e.g. increasing the number of tourist, nights, revenue, capacity, employment, involvement of local population) and development of tourism from the perspective of the environment (e.g. protection of natural, cultural, historical and other resources). Therefore, tourism should be developed on the basis of sustainability, so that all involved parties would be satisfied. One of the instruments which could provide sustainable tourism development are Codes of Conduct. They represent rules in tourism which outline the responsibilities and proper practices for all stakeholders in tourism, ie. tourists, employees in tourism, companies directly and indirectly related with tourism and sport, public sector, local people, and tourist destination. However, very often all parties involved in tourism are not enough and properly informed on existence of codes of conduct in tourism destinations. Codes for tourists mostly have an informative character, and promote responsible and sustainable tourism development which implies economic benefits for local community, using natural resources in a sustainable way. For tourists, behaviour according local regulations is not only important for host destination ; those actions have same importance when it comes in question safety of tourists as well, because tourism- sports activities can be hazardous to health and life of tourists, if they do not comply with the recommendations or rules of conduct. The main purpose of this paper is to give an overview on codes of conduct in sport tourism and to show how their existence is important for tourist safety. Very often activities of sport tourists are connected with an open space and preserved environment, but at the same time tourists ruin that same environment. In addition, sport activities can frequently cause a number of injuries that occur due to non- compliance with the codes of conduct in certain tourist destinations and resorts. For an example has been taken recent event of Michael Schumacher ski accident. In the research has been used content analysis to examine the nature and tone of communication among fans of Michael Schumacher after the accident.
