Sažetak
Metadata is an integral part of the data, and together they form one unit. The metadata should be documented in collecting data and need to be updated when data changes. Their primary goal is to define the meaning and characteristics of the data. Metadata is one of the main components of spatial data infrastructure. Their role in the spatial data infrastructure is extremely huge because they allow users of spatial data access to eligibility information to their requirements and needs. There are 3 types of spatial data resources: datasets, series and services. For uniformity and consistency of metadata is important, standardization and creation of appropriate norms. Standardization of geospatial information and associated metadata dealing with multiple organizations on a global, regional and national level. Among the most famous is the International Organization for Standardization. Spatial data infrastructure provides a basis for spatial data, their assessment and implementation at all levels of society. Generally, spatial data infrastructure is a set of core technologies, policies and institutional arrangements that allow the availability of spatial data as well as access to them.
