Sažetak
The long recession that impacted most of the EU and CEFTA countries has revealed the risk of concentrating on the small domestic market and that the proper way is to strengthen exports and international trade. A particularly interesting market is the China market. It was recognized by European food producers, but there needs to be a thorough study of the differences in food regulations. The procedures and conditions for placing food on the Chinese market, in some aspects are different from those in the European Union and therefore represent a major challenge for European producers. An important factor in this process is the special category of foods, such as foods for special dietary needs, food with added value, foods with nutrition and health claims and food with animal ingredients. There should be sufficient nutrition information visible on foods to allow consumers to make healthier dietary choices. This information can be provided in a number of ways but the food label is the most direct source of information. Regulation on nutrition information and health claims aims to ensure that claims are truthful and do not mislead consumers. It also aims to stimulate innovation to produce healthier food products in the food industry. The aim of this paper is to give a more detailed insight and comparison of EU and China's regulations in the area of food labelling, especially in the labeling of nutritional information and health claims as well as the conditions this requires to meet.
