Sažetak
The Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)case was found and investigated at mixed breed female dog, 2 years old, 15 kg of body weight on Clinic for Internal Diseases of Veterinary Faculty, University of Zagreb. IBD is common in gastroenterology for inflammatory disease of unknown cause in dogs and cats that have repeating gastrointestinal symptoms with histologically confirmed evidence of inflammatory infiltration. Before admission on Clinic for Internal Diseases the patient was treated by veterinary ambulance for Giardia infection and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. During examination at the Clinic following tests were done on the patient: blood samples were obtained for hematology and biochemistry tests, X-ray of thorax and abdomen in two standard position, serum samples were obtained for serum folate and cobalamin concentration, ultrasound of abdomen, parasitological examination of feces and endoscopy of gastrointestinal tract was done and multiple biopsy samples. Pathohistological opinion is that the possible cause of this condition is idiopathic colitis (idiopathic inflammation bowel disease). The treatment of inflammatory bowel disease is directed on dietary modification, antibacterial and immunosuppressive therapy.
