Sažetak
This paper analyses the relationship between the share of sulphur in coal and the needed desulphurisation
device for the TPP Plomin in Croatia. It is observed how the strictness of an air standard influences decisions on
both desulphurisation and denox devices, and how the economy of a plant is affected by those decisions. In addition,
control measures approach is compared to emerging market measures approach, such as emission fees and fines. It is
calculated how high the SO_2 and NO_X emission charges should be set to provide incentives for complying with the
European Union air standard.
