Sažetak
In modern states network of social institutions and organizations is described as growingly wide, diverse and interdependent. Education is no exception. From the point of information ecology theory this state contributes to unstable information environment, especially if the rules of engagement – such as legislation boundaries, bodies for cooperation coordination, ownership rights and rights to disseminate or to publish data – are not precise enough. Knowledge that is being separately, but simultaneously, gathered in educational institutions must be governed more wisely and productively. Principles of knowledge ecology expand this theory by observing institution interactions as natural ecosystems and their life cycles in specific environments. Key points are social networks in which this diverse knowledge is being kept, preserved and upgraded through constant adaptation to its environment. The inner principle is to generate intrapreneurship climate in which autonomous individual knowledge creators and information users can act for the benefit of their institution and system in whole. This future perspective goes beyond classical view of information and knowledge management viewed only through technological terminology of databases. It anticipates an orderly and intuitive system that can be used for: growth in overall awareness of the importance of ever-changing information structures (a), better exploitation of data and knowledge obtained by state institutions (b) and at the end, continuous data based monitoring and quality assurance in education (c).
