Sažetak
The aim of this study is to correlate and evaluate data on the prevalence, duration and mode of HRT ; influence of regional characteristics (ex war zone) ; quality of life (QoL), life style and compliance with HRT in Croatian postmenopausal women. A questionnaire of 56 items was distributed in almost all Croatian counties. Pilot group of 110 adult women was asked to complete a short questionnaire to test the validity of the original QoL scale. The questionnaire covered five different areas: (1) sociodemographic factors, (2) reproductive and general health, (3) life style and quality of life, (4) sexuality and (5) source of information. Questions regarding hormone replacement were divided in three sections: (I) current, (II) past and (III) never HRT users. A total of 1263 women responded the questionnaire (20.8%). Current HRT use was reported by 16%. Near 50% of past users discontinued therapy in less than 1 month and all before 8 months of use. About 50% of current users are under the HRT regimen only for 2 months and only 5% over 6 months. Current users developed higher QoL score computed as factor variables. Compliance with HRT is not only due to the women’ s personal interest. It is also result of an adequate health care provider’ s information where not the advantage but HRT safety is to be stressed.
